sneezing and itching her face
My 2 and 1.5 fawn lucy has been sneezing for some time now and rubbing her face alot and licking her paws. The vet prescribed chlorpheniramine 4mg tablets twice daily. I give her one pill at night because it really sedates her and ive been giving her the pill for a few months. She is still rubbing her face and licking her paws and the vet said maybe food allergies. I switched to the limited ingredient food but i do add in alot of table scraps. she won't eat if i don't. i hate to give her this pill forever. any suggestions... vickie

I assume the pill is an antihistamine? If it makes no difference there is no point in giving it. Another brand of antihistamine may have better results. We tried those with Snifter but they did nothing.
What kind of table scraps are you adding to the food and what are the ingredients of the food you are giving? If it is a food allergy you do have to be strict and it can take some time to find a regimen that suits them.
Mine have done well on grain free fish based kibble and all treats are fish. I top their food with poached salmon or white fish, chews are dried fish skin, they might have tuna occasionally. There is a big variety I can choose from with fish.

I put chicken on top of lucys food. I am afraid i spoiled her. She just wont eat without some people food on top. The food is venison and brown rice formula and of course the name escapes me. thanks

I'd get rid of the grains completely. And many dogs have a reaction to chicken.
I'd look at a no grain, no chicken or beef kibble and I'd think about topping up with a good canned food like Wellness. There are many good no grain kibbles out there these days.
They may also have nose fold infections if they are rubbing their faces so a good cleaning might be in order.
