Recommend some books for me!

Post  Renee on 2/13/2011, 8:00 pm

I have about $150 in Amazon credits to use.

I would really like to use the money to buy some good books on dog nutrition and health.

What are the must haves? What would you recommend? There are so many to chose from, I am getting bogged down!

Plumb's Veterinary Drug Manual is a must have as far as I'm concerned. Not exactly about nutrition and health, but it's been a God send for looking up meds and side effects. Really use it alot.

I also have the Merck Manual on vet stuff and use it alot.

Pitcairn's book is worth getting, although I ignore most of his recipes as he's grain heavy:

Dr. Pitcairn's New Complete Guide to Natural Health for Dogs and Cats [Paperback]

I also like this one:

Holistic Guide for a Healthy Dog [Paperback]
Wendy Volhard (Author), Kerry Brown (Author)

Not all dog nutrition books are created equal. "The Whole Dog Journal" (to which I recommend subscribing) has reviewed many of the dog nutrition books: some are downright dangerous and others have much to recommend them. I would suggest consulting the "Whole Dog Jounal" before you make your purchases.
