After only a week being on Stella & Chewy's raw.
So it's been a week! A week, and the yeast is almost GONE, it was getting bad before the switch and something medicines only been only to get him under control and would come right back once the medicines cycle ended. His groin was the worst area and always has been it's completely cleared up as of today and his skin looks normal for once. He still has a little bit under his arm pits but is surly going away. I thought something like this would take weeks to work, if at all. But surly not this quickly! He is still itching a significant amount though which could be more of something he's in contact with, which is going to need to be my next step. But seeing how much he likes this food and he's not being a picky eater like he usually is, is nice change. I figured I would give a breif update on the switch and the results already from a simple switch from kibble to raw.

Never underestimate the power of a great diet, eh? I'm so glad the food is helping so quickly! I wouldn't worry yet about the fact that he is still a little itchy -- it can take a while for his body to purge all the yucky stuff.

Awesome update! Yep, food makes a big difference.

Great news! Try giving him a bath. Tilly was terribly itchy one day last week so I gave her a bath and it helped tons.

Wonderful news! So glad to hear it's working for him already. I bet you can tell a difference not only in his skin but in himself as well. A lot of people don't believe me (my aunt) when I tell them how important food is but this is a perfect example of what a difference it makes. Glad to hear it!!

Wow!
That is a fast response. That the yeast issues have disappeared with raw feeding doesn't surprise me at all, happens all the time, but as far as I know, a week breaks the speed record for that cure!
Great to hear!

Re: After only a week being on Stella & Chewy's raw.
Onyx seems much more relaxed especially today, the weather is nice almost 60 the snow is melting and he's been able to go outside and just chill. He hasn't been lapping his paws at all the past couple days, I notice a difference in his skin on a daily basis and that really amazes me. He's no longer moist under his arm pits, still a little yeasty but he hasn't been constantly going at it. I assume by the end of this coming week he'll probably be yeast free! I am going to give him a bath either tonight or tomorrow and see if that relieves him of some of the itching which is nowhere near as bad as it was, like I said he still is though. He seems much better these days and just more relaxed and for that I am grateful, love that little man to death. I'll keep you guys posted later this week. Thanks again every one without you he'd still be an itchy, yeasty mess.

It really is amazing what good food can do. We have had some pugs come into rescue in just terrible shape, but with good food and regular care, they make miraculous recoveries.
Re: After only a week being on Stella & Chewy's raw.
Just started in on his third bag of patties. No more yeast, still itching a little bit. I've given him a couple baths over the past couple weeks and it has definitely helped. I can't wait till this spring, when he is more active. Being on the raw I want to see how much he thins out being fed good food. He only weighs in at about 24 lbs right now during the warmer months he never weighs any more than 20 lbs. People will often ask me if he's a full pug when we're out at the beach and what not. He's always been an active dog for a pug (just not in the winter). I told myself when I got him that my #1 goal was to never let him get big, to keep him healthy and lots of exercise. Adding raw to the mix is just another thing that I am happy as can be with. Food might cost more but hopefully lessens the vet visits. It's going to be interesting to see what the pollen does to him, he's very itchy when that's out.
I was getting my coffee at Starbucks a couple of days ago and two of the girls were chatting about feeding raw to their dogs the one who knows all about it wants to but cannot afford it. So I started talking to them about how much it has helped Onyx in the short time that he has been on it. The other girl has a Weimaraner with bad skin issues (assuming that's how their conversation had started). She had never heard of feeding raw up until that point. So hearing from someone who actually has been doing so for a short time and already sees results, she was more willing to look into it (that's a start). Needless to say I spent a good 15 minutes talking to them about it. I hope it helps. When I see other pug owners and their pugs out and about when it gets nicer and they ask me the common question that I too have asked numerous times "does he have allergies?" Raw feeding will be a nice conversation starter. I'd never push it on anyone but it's nice to let people know that it is out there and I'll surely be telling them to come here, as the same was done for me.

I'm so glad that you've had such good results. It's quite impressive that it happened so quickly, too.
