Tell me about warts

Post  Old Mother Hubbard on 3/6/2011, 3:40 pm

Found a lump on Cromwell yesterday . So luckily my vet is open on Sundays now. Did a needle aspiration and no bad stuff found. So he has a wart. Going to just watch it for now. Anything else I can do ?

I think that's the best solution. Closely monitor it to see if it gets any bigger in the short term. If it does, I'd have it whipped off. I don't know how human wart-removal preparations work on dogs, maybe that's another option to discuss with your vet, if it warrants removal. I know quite often they just go away, hope that's the case with your boy!

Stella has black warts and our family dog had skin colored ones that got pretty big. We just left his alone and some would go away and some stayed for years. Stella's are weird, they're on her feet so I've tried a human body wash with tea tree oil that seems to get some of the gunk off of them.

Franklin has one, has for years, scared me at first, its never gotten any bigger or anything...vet has said unless it does change somehow to just leave it be, unless of course I jsut WANT to get rid of it. doesnt' seem to bother Franklin though.

I've wondered if the human "freeze away" stuff would work on a pug??
