How do I deal with my foster Chloe's nervousness?
Chloe is doing much better but I brought her to work this morning and she is a basketcase.
She does not appear to be fearful but very nervous, esp when she meets new people or is in a new situation.
I want to be able to help her relax but am not sure how. I am told not to hold her or pet her when she is in nervous mode, but it's hard not to reassure her that all is ok.
What do I do to help her?

I've had a few that were really nervous and you really just have to let them experience things and see that nothing bad is going to happen. I think if you are calm and speak calmly they will feed off of that also. If they were never exposed to people and places like a busy office, etc, it is natural for them to be nervous. After being in the setting for a week or so, I bet you will see a difference and her comfort level will increase. Just takes lots of time, can't really rush things. Maybe when she meets people have them give her a little treat so she associates meeting new people with a good thing and she won't be so nervous.

Luckily there are only two of us in the office today with just a few other people coming in and out. She would have nothing to do with the treats, she is just to nervous.
I feel so badly for her, I almost want to bring her home but I think it's really important she goes thur this.
She keeps going in to see the other girl, then the min the girl says hi she runs back to me.

Time, patience and not flooding her with too much, would be my advice. I think I posted the articles on working with fearful/anxious dogs and rehabbing puppymill dogs--same things would apply to Chloe.

She is exhausted right now, sound asleep next to my chair.
Should I bring her in again tomorrow or just let her be?
Blanche I'll look up that article you posted, thanks.
