One of my fosters passed on.

Post  Donna on Thu 31 Mar - 7:17

One of my favorite fosters Dawn just passed away. She was one that I was very scared to foster, puppy mill girl for 6 or so yrs, pretty much blind and very scared. I had her for about four months and the turn around with her was astonishing, she left her a confident happy pug. Her new mom keep in touch with me a lot. She got cancer about 6 months ago and they let her go this past weekend.
My heart is very heavy, she really touched my life.

here is a pic of her.

Hugs to you Donna. The fosters hold a very special place in our heart...you take them in when they are so vulnerable and give them such a special gift. I'm so sorry for the passing of a beautiful girl. Hopefully the reminder of the life you helped save will give you a little solace.

Her mom had let me know she was sick but was hopeful that they would be able to operate and she would be able to have more time but sadly the cancer spread.
It really hit me hard this morning when she told me, I know how much she loved this girl.

Damn cancer! Hate it, hate it, hate it. I'm so sorry for your loss, Donna. One of our all time favorite foster pugs, Auggie, passed away exactly one month before Pugsy & even though he had been adopted a few years prior, we still cried like we had lost one of our own. Rescue pugs are very fortunate to have so many people who love and care for them, both foster and forever families.

May Dawn rest in peace. candle

Oh, poor sweet girl. Donna, my thoughts are with you. Losing fosters is so difficult, no matter how long we did or did not have them.

Thanks everyone I will pass this on to her mom, I know it will mean a lot to her.

Poor Dawn was so scared when I got her, one day I could not bring her to work so my dog walker took her out, she had to pick Dawn up because she would not come down the stairs for her and she peed and pooped on her.

It's so hard when you lose them, especially the ones you worked so hard with to overcome their issues.

I'm sorry Donna. The fosters always have a special place in your heart. I've lost 3-4 of my adopted ones that I know of within the last 2 years. I breaks my heart into pieces cause I loved them as if they were my own, even after adopted. She learned what love and happiness in your home into a furever home. Hugs to you.

Not to long, about a year and a half. They sure did love her so life was good.
