\Help - protein level

My heart is beating madly as the vet clinic called this a.m. to tell me Jasmine's protein level is 4 and they will call back tomorrow. The girl who called knew nothing about it and I have no idea what is ideal. Do any of you know what the proper protein level would be for an 11 lb. dog? I don't have any other records so I can compare & this was a new blood test yesterday. She's doing fine & I am enjoying seeing her new little hairs growing back on her ears! Today is the first day of her withdrawal of 1/2 tab. of Prednisone, taking just l/2 tablet a day now.

Here's a reference for normal protein levels in dogs, but this can vary based on the lab used.

TOTAL PROTEIN (TP)

5.2 - 7.8 gm/dL Increases indicate dehydration or blood cancer, bone marrow cancer; decreases indicate malnutrition, poor digestion, liver or kidney disease, bleeding or burns.

Thanks Blanche! 4 doesn't sound very good but she is malnourished and has poor digestion. I think the RC food with rabbit is helping & she doesn't have so many BM's a day as she did before (she's also on Tylon). I am so scared of what the vet will say tomorrow. I appreciate this.
