Lady-Pug, my new foster :-)
My Winston was adopted (MISS HIM!), but just in time for another pug in need!
Pictures first, then her story:

Lady is 4 years old. She was an owner surrender, thanks to a vet with a heart. Her previous owner's had taken her to the vet to euthanize her. Can you believe it??!! They said she is aggressive and they could not deal with it anymore. The vet told them that there are other options, they didn't have to put her down. So, then they decide to mention.. Oh yeah, she hasn't peed in about a week and has had stones before. No big deal.
WTF!!!
A FREAKING WEEK!?!?!?!!?
Anyway, the vet got them to surrender her to us (we have dealt with this vet before), and then we got her picked up to rush her to our vet.
Poor baby girl was in pain! She was completely unable to pee. Our vet, thankfully, was able to cath her and flush her bladder out three times. Some stones came out and were sent for analysis. We did x-rays, and she still has about 3 stones in there. Interestingly, our vet noted that her bladder and entire urinary tract was also full of sandy matter. So a lot of sand / dirt came out during the flush. Her back end was dirty too, with whatever this sand was.
After the vet cleared her out, she was able to get a few drops of pee out on her own. I picked her up and took her back to my house. She is on antibiotics, some rimadyl for pain and the nasty S/D canned food (she is not a fan!). As of this morning, she is able to pee a small stream at a time. She is peeing a lot. We were up at least 6 times last night to go out, and she still peed on my floor in at least 2 spots that I found. I'm just glad she's able to pee. Bless her heart, she squats to try and pee about once an hour.
And, she is not aggressive - she's just a typical bossy girl pug. Got into it with my Ichiro over an elk antler. But, she cuddles right next to my pugs too. I'm sure the her old owners just didn't want to deal with her stone issue.

Re: Lady-Pug, my new foster :-)
I'm sure if she was aggressive, it was due to pain! I didn't know she hadn't peed in a week. That makes me so sad-when my cat had stones, in just the day I noticed him acting off, he was in such pain. And that was only 1 day. Ugh. People make me sick.
Re: Lady-Pug, my new foster :-)
Seriously I'd bite someone's head off if I had not peed in a week.
So glad the vet talked them into rescue, she sure is cute. Once she is back to normal a good home is out there just waiting for her.

I'm so glad she made her way into your compassionate hands, Renee. That poor little girl, not being able to pee for a week! I can't even imagine.

How pretty she is! I'll put these pics, and the bio you sent me, on the site tonight. Is she already spayed? I think you said she was...
Re: Lady-Pug, my new foster :-)
People are the worst. she's very cute, but has a sad little face. Honestly, what can people be thinking?

Re: Lady-Pug, my new foster :-)
why do people think that if you don't want a pug, instead of surrendering, you put them to sleep?? makes no sense to me. I mean, how can you be so casual about killing an animal?
Glad she's in your loving and patient hands now, Renee.

That poor baby girl! People suck. I can't believe that they were going to euthanize her! Leslye/crazypugmom has experience with that sandy/gritty stuff in the bladder. I can't recall which one of her pugs had it at the moment, though.

I think that was Chyna-didn't she have that hydropulsion procedure?
So glad Lady is in the compassionate care of rescue now.

Poor sweet girl!! When I took Nemo in today, the Vet had trouble seeing he was off ... Neems was busy trying to eat a Golden in the Waiting Room for getting to close to me. But I knew he felt badly since yesterday. Critters cannot talk, we have to learn to listen and observe.
Thank goodness for the Vets involved with your girl ... hope she is on the mend in a hurry :-)

Renee, you have such a big heart!
She is beautiful!! It really breaks my heart to know that people think so little of their pets. Thank God there are people like you (and your vet!)

She really is a beautiful girl! People are the one that are animals. Or, is it that "animals" is too good of a term for some people.

Thanks everyone!
Lady is doing great. I cannot imagine they wanted to kill her!?!?!?!?
She is peeing very well on her own, and each day she can squeeze out a little more pee without having to squat once an hour! YAY! We even have a little stream of pee going sometimes!! I think we will be able to avoid bladder surgery, which is a blessing for us right now - we are strapped!

She has a stunning face! Poor baby, not going pee for so long
I would love to tie her previous owners up and not let them go wee for 24 hours and see how they like it.
