Louie's gone to the bridge

Post  puglouie on 5/20/2011, 3:44 pm

It's with the heaviest heart that I pass on the news that Louie is gone. We let him go today around 1 p.m. He was in my arms, a belly full of steak. It was very peaceful. I cried a river into his fur and we said our goodbyes.

What can I say about the World's Greatest Pug, the dog who we thought we'd rescued but truly and completely rescued us? He will be missed and honored forever in our hearts. I will write more when I can see through the tears.

Thank you everyone for your kind words and good thoughts. I know he heard every one of them as he passed on. All the kitchen floors in Pug Heaven will be cleaned well tonight.

Oh Elizabeth!! Like everyone here, especially you, I so wanted to believe you would have a lot more time with him. I know how much you loved that gentle, precious old man and how you would have moved heaven and earth to have him cleaning kitchen floors for many more years. I am in tears for you and know and understand what it's like to say good-bye when you make the decision. I am getting up now to light his candle.

I am so very sorry that is was Louie's time. I know your hearts are broken. Elizabeth, I think the timing was no coincidence and as hard as it was to be with him it was meant to be. I always tell mine to look for me - I'll be along soon to meet them once again. I will light a candle in remembrance of precious, sweet Louie. He will be missed but never forgotten.
