Collapsed trachea

Post  Newsie96 on 5/31/2011, 5:36 pm

Hi everyone, I'm posting this for my friend Harriet. Her Millie, who is 11, was diagnosed with a collasped trachea and she is looking for advice from people who have experience with it. Can it be treated with meds?

Please help, Harriet is besides herself.

Thanks,
Sam

So sorry for Millie and Harriet, Sam!

Treatment depends on the severity and position, and can range from surgery to careful management. Do you have any further details? Very good thoughts for them both.

Jana is the expert! She posted a thread on here about this very subject.

Yes, talk to Jana about it - her Baby Girl has collapsing trachea and Jana is very well versed on it.

I am typing from my phone, but if you go to my website there is a link to Yorkie Angel Patrol which is the resource for all things CT. Baby Girl just had her 3 year stent anniversary, but stents and rings aren't for every dog.
