My new foster June

She is a sweetheart, scared, can't see well, can't walk up and down the stairs, and has pyroderma but I do think she has some good potential in her to become a happy girl given some time.I have not been able to get her to eat or drink since Tuesday night so she is going to the vet today to get hydrated.
In a way she is my toughest foster yet.

Poor sweetheart, she has a timid look on her face.
I hope she eats soon, I'm sure with your love and care she'll come out of her shell in no time.

Re: My new foster June
I have had fosters that wouldn't eat either. Have her teeth been checked? The last lil old man I had in had very bad teeth and it hurt to really eat anything. I got him canned food, but even that was uncomfortable for him. I have used the low salt broth and yogurt on kibble to try to convince them to eat. I have had to hand feed while sitting in the bathroom alone with the foster for what seemed like forever. Others wouldn't eat with me around cause they had only eaten on their own time inside a cage. If she is vision impaired it will take longer for her to relax. She isn't used to people or her location, so everything is overwhelming, I am sure. Some would only eat when my brood was done and watching them. So basically they ate so that the others wouldn't get it!
All have seemed to loved sliced turkey lunchmeat. I have wrapped kibble in half a piece of turkey to get them to start to learn to eat something and to take food from me. Others didn't like the Nautral Balance fish formula that I typically feed the pugs, so I tried Odin's food and that worked! I just slowly added in the pugs food and the switch was easier. She will not starve herself if she's not eating out of anxiety and not pain or medical problems of some sort. Even the pug with the head injury that couldn't stand would lap canned food with water added to it out of a bowl if we held it so she could get to it.
I know personally it can be frustrating and you worry, but she should start to come around. Have you put some of your clothing that smells like you in with her? That will help her acclimate to you.

Renee suggested baby food, I going to try that next. I've done two different kinds of kibble, a can of wet, tried wetting her kibble, hand feeding, on paper plate, in bathroom alone and with me........nothing!
She is going to the vets in a few hours, I'm concerned more with her not drinking, I'm not sure if her teeth have been checked, I think they were but not sure so hopefully the vet can help me.
I have her here at work today, with my pugs, she is doing quite well, still scared but each day I know she will get better, I can see she has it in her, just need to get some food in her belly.

I'm so impressed with Vivian and Rupert's graciousness in welcoming your fosters. They're wonderful!
June is in your capable hands -- I'm sure she'll be eating and settling in shortly.
