The Spokane way would be fastest then. It'll show you the route on googlemaps.

Too bad you couldn't go up through Peachland, BC there's a really nice bed and breakfast there called the Duck and Pug that's VERY pet friendly (and i think they have a pug themselves!)

Is your new boy from Xoe Pugs?

Cool. I'll look that up.

The breeder is Perlin's pugs.

This is wonderful news. Fate is fate....no rhyme or reason to it. Sometimes we just have to go with it.

HEY!!! I live in Spokane, can I help??? Let me know!!!

I was just thinking that my husbands God Mother goes to Calgary all the time (she's there right now). She lives in North Idaho (about an hour from Spokane), and goes into Canada at the Idaho border. That's an option too!

Total kismet. I'm a believer. This is the pug you are supposed to get, and Louie no doubt sent him to you.

I know! My husband's first question to me when I texted the photos to him was "why are his ears brown?" I guess he's done some reading on the pug standard. Rolling Eyes

A wise vet once told me it's better to change the name of a dog when he comes to live with you as he'll associate the new name with you and his new digs. New start and all that. We are considering it however. My husband wants to call him "Puccini" as in the composer and also as a sort of play on "poochie" which we use interchangeably with "dog".

Any thoughts?

As for the trip, my husband would rather us stay stateside -- to save money on the rental car and hotels. So now I'm wondering if there's any of our northern neighbors who might be able to help me get Joey from the Calgary area to the border. We would of course help with gas costs, etc. It's only a thought and a barely formed one at this point -- I'd still like to go up there myself and get him. I'd really like to meet his breeder and thank her for your kindness in person.

But if there's any takers -- even someone who might be able to drive me and Joey to the border (I would fly up to Calgary) so I can meet my husband there -- you would be my angel. I know I'm asking a lot and I'm willing to pay expenses etc., so if anyone's interested, drop me a PM and we can talk. Again, I'm still wanting to do this myself but trying to check out all my options.

If you need people/Pug transport between Seattle/Portland I could drive that leg. My family/close friends live up there so I go up every few months. He's a handsome little man, Louie would be proud.

Judging from those pics he is a light apricot. True apricots often have brown ears. Don't be suprised if he is more ginger coloured in the flesh, the camera can be deceptive sometimes.

Hmmmm, possibly, however that naughty twinkle in his eyes would make me think more of a James Cagney. Or, maybe not so much the gangster type as the trickster type - maybe Archie of comic book fame?
Aaah, got it! Red Buttons! Oh yes, if you are old enough to know his work, the more I look at those pics the more I see Red Buttons! Manic comedian but with a heart of pure gold.

Congratulations - karma has gifted you!
