Missy Lou spending the night at the vet's

Post  TxAllieGrl on 6/10/2011, 8:44 pm

poor little mite. she has a UTI (I think), and unfortunately Steve had the car today, so I couldn't get her to the vet until close to closing time. They had a huge rush (as they usually do on Friday evenings), so asked me to drop her off, they'll do the urinalysis and I'll pick her up in the morning.

hopefully it's just a UTI. and I'm also hoping that it's really her, and not one of the others. it's hard to isolate, but I'm 95% sure it's her. she isn't fond of going outside, so I think she's holding it too long.

*sigh* little munchkin can't catch a break. we just about have her skin cleared up, then she gets an upset tummy. got that settled, the skin under control, and now this.

I was hoping to take her to the adoption event tomorrow to get some exposure for her. I won't be here for the one later this month (we're only doing 2x per month during the summer b/c it's too hot for the pugs).

Sorry to hear that. Those pesky UTI's! Too bad she has to spend the night at the vet too.

Poor little thing! Fingers and toes and paws crossed that it is easily treatable.

I think that was the worst part - having to leave her overnight. She was sooo unhappy when we were there. Totally remembered the smell. She poured on the guilt.

And of course, it feels like something is missing here at the house. Karolyn asked me yesterday if I loved her as much as she loved me - I'm not sure that is possible lol

Poor Missy Lou !

I know how heartbreaking it would have been for you there yesterday, having to leave her there.
Any idea as to when you will hear from the Vet's this morning ?

they opened at 8, and will close at noon. I'll give them a call in 30 min or so and see if I can go get her.

Just catching this Allie - how is sweet Missy Lou? Do hope it is an easily treated UTI and nothing else.

Karolyn agreed with me that we weren't leaving her there, so I went and picked her up. they made time to do the urinalysis and send some baytril home with me so that is a good thing.

The vet said he saw some transition cells from the lining of her bladder in the urinalysis. Best case is that this is due to inflammation from an infection. Worst case is it's a tumor. Yeah, my heart dropped too!

So we're treating her for the infection for now, and will monitor. If it persists, he wants to do an ultrasound to rule out the tumor.

She had quite a bit of interest at the adoption event today. But little monkey couldn't take her eyes off me. They asked me when I was putting in my app for her..

I KNOW. I mentioned it (offhand) to Steve..and he said "I thought we already made up our minds about her." I said, "well, I could change mine pretty easily."
I tell ya, it was hard to watch other people pick her up and love on her. Idunno. I have/had no intentions of adopting...trying to be strong.

Well, lots of things can cause transition cells so I'd say there's more chance of an infection than a tumour. Or that's the way I'm going to think about it......

She is awfully cute, however.
