Re: Help me understand what happened with Rupert...please
I saw the animal grief counselor today, she was fantastic, even starting to shed a tear with me.
Have I told you all how great you are lately, I would not have gotten this far without all of your love, support and stories of your own loss, as hard as they are to read they give me comfort to know I am not alone.
I am truly blessed that you are here and understand more than anyone what I am going thru.

I'm glad you're starting to move forward a little Donna. It is a process and you can do no more than put one foot in front of the other for awhile, and barely that. Each thing you do that is done because of Rupert is a milestone and helps you climb one little bit more out of the pit of grief. The tattoo; the grief counsellor... each step is a personal way of dealing with your grief and every step helps.

Sounds like the grief counselor helped. I'm glad.
When I lost Jack, I was frequenting another "pug" forum. Back in 2005, it was a great place and I got so much support. I know how much it helped me as well.

I'm glad the counselor was helpful. Grieving is a process as others have said and not everyone is helpful or understanding of it.
The heart has it's own timeline and it often isn't the same one as the brain. That conflict between head and heart can be crazy making.

hugs to you Donna. I am so glad to read you are seeing a grief counselor. I just wanted to echo what everyone else has said so eloquently...it wasn't your fault and please don't blame yourself. Grieving is important and necessary. I hope the counselor is able to guide you through the process.

Donna, I don't think I've told you how much I admire the way you are handling the loss of Rupert. I know it has been devastating for you but you've been talking about it and taking steps to deal with your grief - all very positive things. You're doing all of the right things and you will get to a better place.

That's great for you to see a grief counselor. It's one step at a time to healing your heart. You are going through all the emotions during your grieving and it's perfectly natural. Take the time AND steps needed at your own pace.

Thank you again for all the love and support, I would burst if I did not have this outlet to talk about him.
My friends and family understand to a point but you guys just get it.
This week has hit me hard, every since Monday I have been a mess all over again, I just keep saying it will get better, it has to. He was such a happy boy he would not want it any other way.

Donna, it will get better and you will always carry Rupert in your heart. I can't imagine your pain and, yet, there will come a day when you will think of him and smile. Take it one day, no, one minute at a time and know that you are always in my thoughts and prayers.
