Ruby just ate macadamia nuts

She snuck off and munched a HUGE 3oz cookie in our friends luggage. It has white choc chips and macadamia nuts. Sure enough, looked it up and macadamia nuts are toxic to dogs. On hold with vet now. Hopefully all will be ok and they will just make her throw up.

They just said to watch her but she should be fine. That isn't good enough for me. I think I'm going to make her barf it up with hydrogen peroxide. Do you think I should?

She will be fine Jeannette, even without barfing, but if you can make her, just to be sure....

Not when you compare your reaction to my 1.30am trip to the vet with Puck after her snacking on macadamias. That turned out to be a near fatal case of HGE and nothing to do with the nuts she'd munched on, so I was glad I over-reacted! Little monkeys.

Well, it seems that Ruby has a stomach of steel - 2 times with peroxide (no more than about 1.5 teaspoons in total) and no barfing! So we are just watching her now. She seems fine - very active, very happy, barking away at neighbors. Normal Ruby.

Be careful with the peroxide. My vet told me too much of it can be more harm then good. I had to rush Gracie to the vet and he gave her peroxide to throw up and she wouldn't. He said he couldn't give her anymore or it would be bad for her.

Ruby is fine today. In fact, she was super energetic last night, pugtonas all over the place having a great old time! I ended up only giving her a small amount (1.5 tsp. max) of the hydrogen peroxide. It didn't effect her whatsoever and I gave up on it.

Ruby is indestructible! She is the healthiest pug I know…well, physically…certainly not mentally!!! Laughing

They really do love to scare us. I will never forget Penny chomping down the hunormous chocolate chocolate chip cookie! So glad that Ruby is her normal self.
