I'm a sucker for Seniors (and my Hubby's a saint!)
Sooooooo...I get an email from a very good "rescue friend" in MO. She sounded a little more desperate than her usual correspondance, so I gave her a call.
It seems there is a lovely, senior Pug girl - a puppy mill survivor, 9-10 years old, diminished eyesight - who needed help. This Pug has been in 3 different all-breed rescues, been adopted and returned twice, and has been through all 6 foster homes in her current rescue. The rescue has deemed her "unadoptable".
So....guess who's coming 'forever' ?
Rosebud!

I resisted the urge to climb up on my soapbox
and launch into a long diatribe about patience being paramount in the recovery of a Mill survivor, or how arbitrary 'timelines' can't be applied - each dog is different, or how
.....well, you get the idea, and just said 'yes'.
So Rosie will join will join the Posse on July 20th
and we will help her find her "inner Pugness"...eventually
(Meanwhile, hubby is writing the screenplay for our new Reality Show....The Unadoptables....lol!)

OMG - sounds like she has some issues. What are you going to have to deal with?
She is absolutely beautiful. Thanks for taking her on.

Basically....she sounds like she has the "usual" Mill behaviors....afraid of people, startled by fast movements, has no idea what to do with a toy, etc. On the positive side, she loves other pugs, has no 'aggressions' of any kind, and she uses pee pads currently.
So Rosie has a soft place to land, and we can work everything out in time. Hubby says "It's a marthon, not a sprint"

Well, for heaven's sakes, she sounds pretty live-able to me--not much different from most of the mill dogs I've dealt with. My Maudie had many of the same issues.
But sadly, I do know that most people won't adopt a dog with any issues at all--no matter how understandable or workable--which is depressing.
Good for you for stepping up to the plate for her. I look forward to hearing about her--I have a soft spot for the mill girls, especially.

That surely doesn't sound unadoptable to me. I'm sure being bounced around so much hasn't helped her.
Re: I'm a sucker for Seniors (and my Hubby's a saint!)
We have a serious soft spot for the mill girls too....they have been through so much.
Please don't get me started about our "instant gratification society"
The "adopters" and even the fosters couldn't "deal with her" ..."she doesn't act like a Pug is supposed to..." duh! I can't fault the fosters in Rosie's latest rescue too badly....they admit to having little Pug experience, and even less with mill survivors (very new rescue)....so EDUCATE YOURSELF!!!! The info is out there! But I digress...
We are excited for her arrival, and they'll be lots of pictures!
(I tell hubby every day what a keeper he is

Rosebud is a lucky girl! Thank you for giving her a place to live out her days and learn how to be a pug.

I also am a sucker for seniors and 'unadoptables'. Thank goodness Rosie's angel steered her your direction!
I can hardly wait for more pics.

She doesn't sound unadoptable tome! She sounds just like Kimchi two years ago. And now, Kimchi is outshining Thurston as everyone's favorite.

Sounds like Rosebud is landing in a bed of roses! I just love her face, and I'm sure that she will find her inner fawn-ness soon. And yes, your DH is definitely a keeper.

Wow, she is quite darling - how sad she has been moved around so much. And, please, your soapbox is more than welcome on this forum. How tragic that no one could educate themselves better on how to help her, rather than call her unadoptable.
I look forward to hearing your stories and seeing more pictures. And, DH sounds like a keep for sure!
