Someone posted this on FB and it brought tears to my eyes. And again today. It just shows that incredible way animals (especially dogs), have that way of knowing.

I made the mistake of watching the video while home from work the other day. Nothing like having to pull yourself back together just to go back and see patients!

He was not a soldier ... but when I lost Karol, I took Baxter to the memorial here in town. I let him say good bye. He put his paws on the casket and took a deep breath. It was all we could do to keep him from getting in and even with all the people in and out of the small room, Baxter never left the area.
I took him to the funeral in KS and after the service, I took him to the grave site. Again, he was glued to the casket.
On K's birthday last year, we visited him ... and Baxter dragged me to the right place. He sat. He pondered ... and began to dig with determination.
I think he still grieves as hard as I do.

**In tears again here!**
i'm sorry ... have part of my tissue :*-)
I am sure that people think that I am nuts for taking KC and Bax to so many things during that time ... but KC was my security blanket (poor guy was soggy most of the time and I think I squeezed him half to death), and Bax needed to hear and see what was happening. Had the funeral home said one word about it - i would have been out the door. Actually, they encouraged it. Made a world of difference.

I am leaking all over my keyboard for the video and for Baxter. No question that they know. None at all.

Wow..... just wow.... and some people don't think dogs can feel or have emotions. They probably are more in tune with feelings and emotions than most people.

Tears, we could learn so much from our precious fur kids. Their hearts are so pure.

Beautiful stories!! I firmly believe that dogs know more than we are aware.
I allow people to bring their dogs with them to my private practice, if this helps reduce their anxiety about being there. Makes a world of difference!
