Farewell to Dory
Dory and I leave for her forever home this afternoon. None of the sedatives we tried work for her so any and all positive, calming thoughts this afternoon/tonight will be appreciated. The vet thinks there's a connection that's gone haywire with her due to her neurological issues and that's why nothing works for her. I've done the best I could with getting her used to the Sherpa, but she still doesn't like it. I'll be returning early Saturday morning. I'm going to miss her like crazy. She's the sweetest little girl and always greets us with a spin and a woooo-wooo-wooo when we come home from being gone.
Sunday morning I'll be picking up Biscuit, my new hospice foster. Here is her profile on the CFPR website: http://www.centralfloridapugrescue.org/our-pugs/hospice-pugs/buiscut/4755/

Re: Farewell to Dory
I bet she will be ok cause she will be right with you! Lola flew and was crate trained but had never even been in a sherpa type bag. She did great. Whined a little at first but with the noise of the plane no one could hear her! She settled down and slept the entire flight and she was only like 18 mos old.

Re: Farewell to Dory
Thanks all. We're headed to the airport in a little bit. I was up all night sick to my stomach. I'm rubbing Dory down with lavender oil in hopes that will help calm her. I can't wait until we land safely in Spokane and she can come out of her Sherpa. I think this is the hardest thing I've ever had to do, next to having Mattie put to sleep last year (a year ago next week). It's a very emotional week for me, but I know I'll pull through.

I've been thinking of you both all day long. I know you'll do great and once Dory is in her new home, you can relax a little and enjoy the wonderful thing you've done.
I love you chica! You are a great friend and a wonderful pug mom and a damn good rescuer! Can't wait to hear that you're home and safe and that the new baby is on her way to you.
