Pink Pigmentation on Lips??

Post  thminis on 9/14/2011, 11:31 pm

Reggie has had a barrage of things health related in the last month or so (allergies got really bad, had a skin mass removed - luckily benign; upset tummy the other night, KCS). About a day or so ago I noticed he had some pink pigmentation starting on his lip. I thought it was maybe a bruise as it wasn't swollen, bleeding, bothering him, and didn't feel like a mass. Well, now it's spread some to the other side. Any ideas on what it could be? I won't hesitate to bring him to the vet where I work in if needed, but I do feel a little silly going in so often lately. Figured I'd ask you guys while I play the wait and watch game for another day or so. I took some low quality pics on my phone.

It could be nothing, but the paranoia in me wonders if it's immune based...add that to his bad allergies, sudden dry eye/KCS, hyperkeratosis (thickening of skin on his nose...a normal pug thing, but can be immune mediated)... He's lost weight and we go on walks daily usually between half a mile and a mile, so it's counter intuitive that he's had these issues (although allergies have been almost life long, he's 7). My concern is if it is immune based, it might be hard to pin point.... I'm clearly worrying more than may be necessary, but I think I'll try to make a trip to the vets tomorrow so they can take a look at him.

Not a clue Theresa, but hope it's something easily treated. Poor Reggie! He's been in the wars lately. Sending him some healing hugs.

No ideas here, either, Theresa. Penny and I add our healing hugs and good thoughts for Reg man. He sure has been through it. And, again, I am so very glad that he is with you!

Thanks. We're going to make a stop at the vet's tonight. Better safe than sorry. Two mornings in the last 3 or so days now, I've woken up with mystery stains on my white comforter. They're large either brown or dark red tinged areas. Some are small and possibly from him licking, but it's the majority of my queen sized blanket. I'm so perplexed, so I may just ask them to take a look at him and run bloodwork and a urine work up.
